Daphne E. Smith
Controller
Daphne Eddington Smith joined Larson & McGowin as Controller in January 2011. Smith, a native Mississippian, earned her undergraduate degree in business at William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and is a licensed CPA in Alabama.
She comes to the company with ten years experience as a public accounting auditor and three years experience as a controller for a service provider. Smith manages Larson & McGowin’s accounting department and financial reporting process. She started her career with Sikich Gardner, a regional CPA firm in Springfield, Illinois and then worked with Smith, Dukes & Buckalew in Mobile, Alabama for over seven years as an Audit Manager, where she provided a variety of services to clients, such as financial audits of nonprofit organizations, municipalities, trusts and businesses; recommendation and development of accounting and management controls; and consultation on technical accounting and financial reporting issues and implementation. Most recently, Smith gained valuable experience as Controller for a marine and oilfield services provider.
Daphne is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of CPAs. She is also a member of the Junior League of Mobile, a nonprofit organization that serves the local community through volunteerism and fundraising.
